Wish I could help you, but I bet w/ the parameters you've set that they could be easily backtested on TradeStation or even Fibtrader. If you did, you could probably find the "sweet" spot. For example, what if you eliminated all signals that didn't show at least 40 profit? or 50? or 60? Since you are using a daily close somehow, you could go back a long ways and give yourself alot of confidence you really had something. [Reply to post #9] |

Hiya. The number are the profit/loss for signals. The last entry should read 60 and not 80. That's my mistake. I confused myself because i personally closed the trade with 8 handles profit and I took the numbers directly from my spreadsheet and posted them in the thread.
I trade with a spreadbet company. 6 handles is the same as 60 points on the DOW.

I'm not understanding your numbers ----- are they the profit (or loss) targets or the maximum gain/loss? i.e. thursday target 6pts (24ticks es or 60ticksSP) but recorded as 80 in your series. Not to complicate things but you might take a look at 30-yr Bonds (ZB) for the INVERSE relationship. Not as prone to whips because the market is much deeper --- especially in overnite US Don't let me sidetrack you, but you might want to take a look [Reply to post #7] |

WE HAVE LIFE! I KNOW THE R/R LOOKS BAD. WHEN REDUCING THE STOP I'VE FOUND THAT THE VOLATILITY OF THE INSTRUMENT ALMOST GUARANTEES THAT ONE GETS STOPPED OUT AND THEN THE MARKET GOES IN THE PREDICTED DIRECTION.
THESE ARE THE RESULTS OF THE LAST 50 ODD DAYS. WE HAVE HAD 16 SUCESS DAYS IN A ROW WHICH MAKES ME NERVOUS OF A SYSTEM FAILURE DAY SOMETIME SOON, BUT WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE. 87 5 151 85 30 24 30 30 30 30 30 -130 30 30 30 -150 60 30 60 80 60 80 60 60 -90 30 30 30 30 90 70 -150 30 30 50 30 -150 30 30 30 30 -110 80 80 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 60 |

Nice call ystrdy, but you're right ------ the R/R seems terribly out of balance. Wish you the best and I'll keep following your updates. |

I WILL BE USING THE S&P CASH PRICE FOR THE CALLS.
THE SYSTEM HAS MADE JUST OVER 1000 POINTS IN THE LAST 40 DAYS OR SO. THE TARGETS ARE USUALLY AROUND 3 HANDLES DEPENDING ON THE SIGNALS. STOPS ARE USUALLY AROUND 11 HANDLES.
DESPITE THE ADVERSE RISK TO REWARD RATIO, THE SUCCESS RATE THUS FAR HAS MADE THIS SYSTEM HIGHLY PROFITABLE.
I AM NERVOUS ABOUT DOING THIS BUT I HAVE BEEN ENCOURAGED TO DO SO AND FEEL I HAVE NOTTHING TO LOSE IN DOING SO.

THE SYSTEM TAKES ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO ANALYSE MY CUSTOM INDICATORS / PATTERNS AND, TAKING THE PRICE ON THE S&P AT APPROX 9.10 PM (UK TIME....10 MINUTES AFTER THE CLOSING BELL) GENERATES A TARGET PRICE THAT THE S&P SHALL TRADE AT AT SOME POINT DURING THE FOLLOWING SESSION (GLOBEX AND REAL TIME HOURS) AWAITING CLOSING BELL FOR NEXT SIGNAL: |
